Flying Zambian Violinist!
Gold Sparkle Yamaha violin really flies in South Africa!
With Nearly 8,000 miles between us, Zambian violinist Caitlin van Pyre may be the most far-flung customer EVS has ever served. She is also one of our very favorite international customers, so we were thrilled to rush the shipping on the very first gold sparkle SV-200 we received, so we could get it to Africa in time for Caitlin's twenty-first birthday.
Caitlin is comfortable in traditional performance environments, but really shines is when she is pushing the boundaries of her audience's perception of the violin. She's played atop buses and on earth-moving equipment, slid across tables and been suspended over water, and even developed a unique "laser violin" show, where she wears a white body suit and performs on a darkened stage with her pearl white Yamaha SV-200 and a silver metallic bow, bathed in a spectacular web of laser light.
Caitlin's most recent electric violin adventure takes her back to her earliest dream, of becoming an aerial performer. Playing the violin supplanted her desire to become a trapeze artist when she saw Vanessa Mae perform on TV, but now Caitlin is combining the two, with an aerial violin show where she flies and flips through the air, even playing the violin upside down!
Caitlin got her first electric violins from us (a clear Ted Brewer Vivo² and a black Yamaha SV-200) for Christmas in 2005 and has been a loyal customer ever since.
