ZETA Jazz Fusion 5, Jean-Luc Ponty Signature Model, tobacco burst

Enhanced with modern improvements but steeped in ZETA's history, this tobacco burst 5-string Jazz Fusion Jean-Luc Ponty signature model is a Doc Brown-modified DeLorean for the electric violinist. This 5-string Jean-Luc Ponty signature model Jazz Fusion has the classic tobacco burst finish over a flamed maple top and back. Transparent amber in the center shows off the figure of the maple. The color darkens at the edges, finally going from dark brown to black on the sides and the back of the neck.

The Jazz bridge delivers a clean, electric violin tone that is favored by artists world-wide. The overall sound of the Jazz bridge is full and satisfying, and it transmits less bow change sound than then almost any other piezo transducer system.

Naturally, the signature model is equipped with the new "1992 JLP Jazz Reissue" preamp. Its output is noticeably stronger than the previous version. The 1992 JLP Jazz Reissue preamp also has a crisper tone which cuts through a little more than the old preamp, which has a mellower sound. To create the Jean-Luc Ponty signature series violin, Steve Carlson worked worked closely with ZETA artist Gabe Gladstein (who owns one of Ponty's original tobacco burst 5-strings), and later with JLP himself, as the project neared completion. The engineers at EMG designed a new version of the modern ZETA preamp that was voiced to recreate the signature sound that Jean-Luc Ponty made famous.

ZETA has also introduced design improvements over the original Imbus pegs to keep the metal sleeve from splitting the ebony of the peg over time, and they've brought back the double-edged look of the classic early ZETAs (the double edge of the lower bout continues through the "C" bout, to the end of the double cutaway). The result is a contemporary rendering of an iconic ZETA violin.
