Silzel Performance System™ is an extremely low-latency software MIDI processor designed to make live performance with MIDI sound not only possible, but easy! Silzel Performance System™ hosts digital effects plugins so you can carry an arsenal of CD-quality effects in your laptop or notebook computer, and call these up on the stage or in the studio from the computer keyboard or a MIDI foot controller. In fact, you can switch from MIDI Violin to conventional electric violin and back-- in the middle of a tune, and without changing instruments!
Silzel Performance System™ software includes no effects or MIDI patches, but hosts limitless software plugins. Some suggested Virtual Instrument (Synth) plugins and Sound Fonts can be found in the Silzel Support Forum's Plugin Library. Other effects and plugins are found online at VST databases such as http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php. Now you can leave behind that bulky effects processor loaded with scores of guitar effects you never use! Silzel can host as many or as few effects as you need--and only the effects you want!
It is strongly recommended that you use a USB interface such as the ART DualPre USB Project Series (see 'Related Products' above) to input your violin signal to a computer. This will both improve the software's performance and prevent risk of damage to your instrument or soundcard.
Silzel Performance System™ runs in Windows XP/Vista/7 (32-bit) but is not currently supported in Windows 64-bit or Mac operating systems. MIDI is monophonic, meaning when using Silzel Performance System™ to control VSTi virtual instruments, Silzel Performance System™ software will only recognize a single frequency (pitch) at a time. Therefore, double stops will not be recognized, or perhaps only one of the pitches will come through. Silzel Performance System™ will process double stops when being used with VST effects plugins. The current version of 'Silzel' recognizes the frequency range of violin and viola (or 5-string violin) up to E6 (an octave above open E). Therefore only the top five strings of a 6 or 7-string violin will be recognized by the software.
