When we made this acoustic-electric violin, we started with a great "donor" body -- Eastman's beautiful VL-805 violin, a tastefully-antiqued instrument that has a sweet, mellow voice with plenty of color in its tonal palette. We then amplified the violin with the Fishman V-300 bridge replacement pickup, yielding a powerful tone with strong bass and a great sound across the entire range.
The result is an acoustic-electric violin that sounds fantastic even before you plug it in, that's ready to kick hard when you need to be heard. If you're playing with a loud band or ensemble, but you're not ready to give up the complexity of tone that only an acoustic violin can give you, then this is as close to a no-compromise solution as you're likely to find.
