With a twisty, interesting shape, interesting wood figure, and a beautiful dark red sunburst finish, this five-string electric violin from Brandon MacDougall of Liquid Violins has a look like nothing we've ever carried. Using 3D modeling for the design, the bodies are cut out on a CNC machine. The result is an instrument with a striking, unusual look that really draws the eye.
Amplified tone is strong and rich on the low end, clear and sweet on the E string. This particular Liquid Violin's sound comes from Brandon's new bridge design, and is quite natural sounding - not colored in any way. Played through a proper amp, most people will think you are playing a traditional acoustic violin!
Though its appearance is innovative, the feel of the instrument is familiar and comfortable, although a little heavy. The instrument is designed to take a standard shoulder rest.
