The NS Design WAV 5-sting violin has the same shape and exceptional ergonomic feel as the CR series violins made in the Czech Republic. The biggest difference is that the WAV violin is passive - they do not have a 9 volt battery-powered preamp like those made in the Czech Republic. This makes them lighter in weight. There is a volume control and single tone knob.
Adding a low C string gives violinists the added range of a viola, while the fingerboard width and bridge curvature make transitioning from 4 to 5 strings simple. Tone is outstanding for its price range because it also uses Ned's patented Polar® pickup. The WAV violin uses the same easily adjustable and ergonomic shoulder pad system as the NS Design CR violins, and the upper bout is removable for lightning-fast shifts up the fingerboard.

Very good product for the money. Very pleased. Review by Gboss
In all honesty I did not expect this low cost instrument to sound so good. I got this as an upgrade from my old Yamaha SV-120 and the sound is remarkably different in the good way. The low 5th string adds to more of a rock style of playing in my opinion which is one of the main reasons I bought an electric. Overall very pleased with this budget 5 string electric violin. I would recommend this to anyone in the market for a cheaper electric violin, especially a 5 string. (Posted on 1/12/12)
