Zeta Music Systems

For almost a quarter of a century now, the Zeta brand has been practically synonymous with the electric violin. Their instruments have been the first choice of many of the legends of electric bowed strings, and they still make solid, well-built instruments, each with its own strong and distinctive tone.

The myriad models that Zeta has offered over the years have often led to a lot of unnecessary confusion. The naming conventions for their instruments are, for the most part, not that complicated. The first word in the name of any particular model tells you which bridge that instrument is equipped with. The second name represents the body style of the instrument. Recent simplification of their product lines has made things even simpler, as they are basically focusing almost all of their violin production on their two most popular body styles.

Violists can choose from the same combinations of body style and bridge design as violinists. We typically have no more than one Zeta viola in-stock, and it's usually the Ensemble viola. Definitely call for availability, if you need a Zeta viola.

For cellists, Zeta has reduced the number of options to one -- but it's a good one. The Strados Fusion cello has long been their most popular model, and the Educator cello was really just a Strados Fusion with a plainer finish. Again, call for availability, as we typically only have one Zeta cello in stock

For a full analysis of Zeta's electric violin body styles and bridge designs, check out our Choosing the Perfect Zeta For You page.

Painted and transparent maple finishes take longer, as Zeta does their own finishes in-house. If you need the Zeta sound, but you're in a hurry, we often have their instruments in satin-finished mahogany bodies, as they can produce these instruments more quickly. Because the demand for Zeta violins has always out-stripped the supply, it's usually best to call for availability.

As with all of our suppliers, Electric Violin Shop can special-order a custom Zeta violin to your exact specifications. A fifty per cent deposit secures your order, and the balance is due when Zeta delivers the instrument to us.
