Requires phantom power.
DPA is a Danish company making tiny microphones that offer great quality and a very flat tonal response. This means the sound you get from your violin or viola will go faithfully to your amp or sound engineer.
The d:vote 4099V is a miniature shotgun condenser microphone inside a windscreen. It attaches to the side of violin or viola with a flexible arm, allowing convenient placement. Because of the focused pattern of the 4099, the mic doesn't pick up breathing or movement noise (great for us emotional players!).
The soft rubber clip holds the mic securely, with virtually no risk of damaging the instrument. And, if the mic cable gets caught on something, the clip will come off, not jerking your precious instrument to the floor Requires phantom power. The mini cable plugs into an included belt clip XLR adaptor, and has an 80 Hz cutoff to prevent feedback. Output is standard male XLR, and should go into a mic input on your amp or sound system.
