Wood Violins

A world-renowned electric violinist and Emmy-winning composer, Mark Wood is also a talented instrument designer and the founder of Wood Violins. Mark Wood has created three unique electric violin designs and that reek of rock 'n roll badness.

Viper -- The signature Mark Wood violin design, and the one Mark Wood himself plays on stage, is the flying-V shaped Viper. It is available in 4, 5, 6 or 7 strings, fretted or unfretted (6 and 7 strings come fretted by default), and in a wide variety of painted finishes or exotic wood tops!

Sabre -- Mark Wood's Sabre electric violin is a nod to the electric guitar with its asymmetrical double cutaway. It is available as a solid body instrument or in a semi-hollow version that is even lighter weight, known as the Sabre Katana

Stingray -- Lastly, Mark Wood created the Stingray SV-series (a lightweight Battle Ax design) to serve the student and entry-level market. Custom pro versions of the Stingray are also occasionally in stock or available by special order.

Mark Wood has also designed a line of acoustic-electric violins known as the Concert Series. These are available at two levels: the Standard, which aims to provide good amplified tone at a very affordable price, and the Deluxe, which offers finer materials and components and is available in 4 strings or 5.

With the exception of thier production line--the Stingray SVX4 and Stingray SVX5--all of the instruments offered by Wood Violins are custom-built and hand-made right here in America by a team of master artisans. Each American-made instrument comes with a Certificate of Authenticity personally signed by Mark Wood.
