The Aurora acrylic electric violin is hand made in Brazil by Mauricio Brazolin. The Aurora violin has three button-controlled LEDs that combine for up to 7 colors, and is available in the US and North America only through Electric Violin Shop.
In the mid 1990's, Brazilian luthier Mauricio developed his first models of electric violins, having worked since 1982 in a custom shop making electric guitars and basses. Mauricio's father was an enthusiast and a player that taught his son the concepts of a good violin and how to make it with care and emotion! In '96, Mauricio created a pickup line for acoustic violins, which was a great success in Brazil. In 2010, Brazolin released an acrylic electric violin combining striking visuals and the warm tone of his dual-piezo pickup design. In 2014 Brazolin reached out to Electric Violin Shop, seeking wider distribution for his AE-3 design. We gave feedback and provided specifications and, after a few rounds improvements to meet our exacting standards for tone and playability, the result was the new and improved Aurora acrylic electric violin with LEDs you see below!
